Los Angeles Lakers backup center Jaxson Hayes re-sprained his right ankle and will miss two-to-three weeks, sources told ESPN's Shams Charania and Dave McMenamin Saturday.
Hayes initially sprained his ankle during a practice in early November and was sidelined six games due to the injury. He returned in Tuesday's 127-100 NBA Cup loss against the Phoenix Suns but missed the following two contests.
The 24-year-old is averaging 6.4 points and 4.5 rebounds while shooting a career-high 72.2% from the field in 11 games this campaign.
Hayes is in the final season of his two-year, $4.6-million deal.
The 11-8 Lakers sit sixth in the Western Conference and take on the Utah Jazz on Sunday night.
